Abstract

This descriptive study was carried out to determine the problems and solutions of clinical experiences that were perceived by the students, the staff nurses, and the nurse administrators.
The data was gathered from in-depth interviews and the questionnair that was developed by the resarchers, based on the results of the interviews.
The subjects consist of 152 nursing students, and 236 nurses including nurse administrators.

@EN 1. The items over 70% of the subjects regarded as problems are
¡Ü lack of knowledge for clinical experiences
¡Ü lack of time for the nurses to teach the students due to heavy workload
¡Ü no specific teaching guideline in clinical setting
¡Ü insufficient ward orientation
¡Ü lack of teaching plan in the clinical area
Most of these problems were perceived more strikingly by the students than by the nurses.
2. The solutions suggested for the problems of clinical experiences for the students are
¡Ü to develop professionalism of the students through curriculum revision
¡Ü to provide staff nurses with opportunity for direct participation of clinical teaching
¡Ü to develop detailed objectives and teaching contents
¡Ü to provide specific checklists for each clinical field
